Background/history

Vice Chancellor for Research of Shiraz University started its activities in October 1981 under the title of "Vice Chancellor for Research" and under the supervision of Dr. Alireza Sepaskhah (Vice Chancellor for Research) with 1 staff member. Prior to that, the Vice Chancellor for Education and Research was merged under the auspices of a Vice Chancellor. The first meeting of the University Research Council, called the University Research Council, was held in 1981, and since then, the university's research activities have been concentrated and coordinated within the framework of the council's facilities and duties. Over the years, due to the expansion of tasks and the increase in the volume of research activities at the university, the Office of Research and Scientific Cooperation was concentrated with a new organizational structure. Currently, the Vice Chancellor for Research consists of the Department of Research, Technology and Applied projects Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Management, the Center for Publishing and Scientometrics, the Central Library, and the Central Documentation and Laboratory Center, which is managed by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology.

Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology at Shiraz University focuses on the development of research and technology based on an interactive approach. The research and technology process of Shiraz University, like other first-rate universities in the country, is focused on training the human capital of researchers and technologists, and the consolidation of education through increasing capabilities and capacity building. The Vice Chancellor seeks to use all local, national, regional and international capacities, especially faculty members, to pursue the development of basic, applied and developmental research and commercialization of research results until the full realization of the university's goals and keep the university running by attracting domestic and foreign investment and carrying out joint projects.
